Court Jails Mother, Sister of Late Terrorist Kingpin Battujo for 40 YearsThe Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced the mother and sister of late terrorist kingpin, Kachallah Ibrahim Battujo, to 40 years imprisonment for terrorism-related offenses. The judgment was delivered on Friday following their guilty plea to charges bordering on aiding terrorism and concealing information about terrorist activities.

The convicts, Safiya Salihu and Halima Abdullahi, were arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) and prosecuted by the federal government. According to the court, both women assisted Battujo by passing information to him through telephone conversations and failed to disclose critical information that could have aided security agencies in his apprehension.

Battujo, a notorious bandit and terrorist leader, was neutralized by security operatives during an operation near Iluke in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State on June 10, 2026. Justice Hauwa Joseph Yilwa sentenced the two women to 20 years imprisonment on each count, with the sentences to run concurrently, resulting in a total jail term of 40 years. The court also ordered that they undergo rehabilitation after serving their prison terms.

The judgment marks another significant milestone in Nigeria’s ongoing crackdown on terrorism, banditry, and those found to be supporting criminal networks across the country.
