The lawmaker representing the Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Salman Idris, has expressed immense gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the Federal Government’s approval of a ₦24.7 billion contract for the rehabilitation of the strategic Kabba-Ifaki-Ado Ekiti Road corridor.

Salman also singled out the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, and House veteran Hon. James Abiodun Faleke for their multi-layered roles in fast-tracking the critical infrastructure intervention.
The Kabba-Iyamoye-Omuo Ekiti axis has been a source of severe hardship for commuters, traders, and agricultural transporters for several years. Heavy seasonal downpours and chronic neglect had turned portions of the highway into near-impassable bottlenecks, stalling the movement of goods between Kogi and South-Western states like Ekiti, Ondo, and Osun.
Hon. Salman described the ₦24.7 billion contract approval as a concrete demonstration of President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, emphasizing its potential to stimulate economic growth, enhance regional integration, and significantly boost local security. ”This project is about saving lives, easing the economic burden on our farmers, and restoring an indispensable transit link between the North and the South-West,” the lawmaker said The funding approval follows sustained legislatemphasisingcutive lobbying led by Hon. Salman sponsored a formal motion on the floor of the House of Representatives titled “Motion on the Need to Repair the Failed Portion of Kabba-Iyamoye-Omuo Ekiti Road,” which successfully drew national focus to the corridor. Following the motion’s adoption, the lawmaker held direct strategic courtesy visits with the Ministry of Works. June 10, 2026: During a legislative oversight engagement, Hon. Salman secured assurances from Works Minister David Umahi that the project would be prioritized in the ministry’s immediate roll-out.
The federal lawmaker highly praised Senator David Umahi for his swift responsiveness and technical oversight in restructuring the failed project.
