
The Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, Hon. (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, has strongly condemned the recent attack on Iluke Bunu community by suspected criminal elements, describing the incident as unfortunate, barbaric, and unacceptable.
The Chairman expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and sympathized with all victims affected by the attack. He assured residents of the Local Government’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property across all communities within the area.Hon. Dare Michael called on the Nigerian Army to, as a matter of urgency, deploy personnel to the newly constructed Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Iluke Bunu to strengthen security operations and prevent further attacks on the community and its environs.The Chairman also commended the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, for his continuous support and partnership in the fight against criminality and insurgency-related activities within the Local Government.
He further appealed to the Police Command to deploy additional personnel and operational assets to the district to enhance security coverage and response capabilities.While appreciating the efforts of security agencies, the Chairman particularly lauded the gallantry and swift response of local security operatives who successfully engaged the attackers and neutralized some of the criminal elements during the incident. He noted that their courage and sacrifice helped to minimize further casualties and destruction.According to the Chairman, the Local Government Administration is working closely with relevant security agencies and stakeholders to ensure that lasting measures are put in place to forestall any recurrence of such attacks.
He urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could assist ongoing efforts to secure the area.The Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace, security, and development across Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.
