We gather to celebrate the New Yam Festival with our brothers and sisters of the Ebira community here in Okebukun, we are reminded that the yam is more than food, it is a symbol of hard work, patience, and the blessings of a fruitful harvest.

The Honourable Timothy Olabuja Ampitan and his team are honoured to stand with the Ebira community in Okebukun to celebrate this joyous occasion, marking a tradition that has bound generations together in gratitude and hope. Beyond the festivities, Hon. Timothy Olabuja Ampitan’s team took the stage to speak about the bond between the Ebira and the host community, the Bunu.

We are neighbours, and more than neighbours, we are one family bound in peace, love and unity. Let the spirit of this festival remind us that our strength lies not in our differences, but in how we choose to embrace one another. The team stretched on the understanding, respect, and love we enjoyed as a Bunu people. Joojo team call on every son and daughter of Ebira and Bunu to continue nurturing unity, not to see each other as strangers, but as one people sharing a future. Let this New Yam Festival be more than a celebration of harvest; let it be a renewal of our commitment to peace, love, and togetherness across every tribe and community. The team also urges the Ebira community within Okebukun and its environs to uphold the legacy of love, harmony, and peaceful existence, which we have enjoyed as a Bunu.

The team further urges Ebira youths to avoid divisive tendencies that could alter the relationship we currently enjoy. Together, we grow. Together, we thrive.
